Endowing your Library for years to come

Al Dwoskin with board directors.The Fairfax Library Foundation celebrated the achievement of the $3 million fundraising goal of the New Century Library Fund (NCLF). The Fund was launched to help ensure that the library system meets new and diverse demands throughout the 21st century. Al Dwoskin (pictured center with board directors) and his wife Claire were recognized for serving as co-chairs of the NCLF campaign, of which Dwoskin and Associates is a major contributor.

Alice Starr and Janet Kerr Tener.The Library Foundation’s past Chair, Alice Starr, was honored by the 2004-2006 Chair, Janet Kerr Tener (pictured) for serving as a catalyst for this remarkable fundraising effort. Elected officials and donors joined the Library Foundation’s Board of Directors and Advisory Board members, as well as members of the Fairfax County Public Library’s Board of Trustees, at this event generously sponsored by Guest Services, Inc.

Although the NCLF campaign has ceased by that name, the Library Foundation will continue to raise funds to grow the endowment. Once fully funded, interest will support the four most critical needs of Fairfax County Public Library, including books and materials to meet the growing demands of our diverse community; community programs ranging from literacy outreach to presentations by renowned authors; virtual library equipment and software demanded by tech-savvy readers; and the Foundation’s Friends Scholarship Fund, which supports educational opportunities for library staff, volunteers and students in pursuit of a Masters in Library Science degree to address the impending shortage of qualified librarians.
