Alison Larkin
Alison Larkin was interviewed for BookCast by Fairfax County Public Library Director Sam Clay.
Alison Larkin, classical actor, playwright and fiction writer is the author of The English American, published in March 2008. The Chicago Sun-Times called the book “a funny, charming and poignant book - the kind that you can't resist reading in a single day.”
She grew up in East and West Africa, Washington, D.C. and the south of England with her English parents. After reconnecting with her birth mother in Tennessee, she relocated to the United States.
Larkin has performed at the Comedy Club and the Boston Comedy Club in New York City, Los Angeles Comedy Club and the Tropicana in Las Vegas.
The novel is based on Larkin’s semi-autobiographical one-woman show, The English American, which previewed in Manchester, England, in 2000 and was later performed on the West End in London in 2004.
