Fairfax County Public Library Foundation Raises $1 Million for New Century Library Fund Fairfax, VA - Fairfax County Public Library Foundation, Inc. (FCPLF) is pleased to announce that it has raised $1 million toward the New Century Library Fund. The Fund achieved the $1 million mark on Tuesday, November 19, 2002, when AT&T awarded Fairfax County Public Library Foundation a $20,000 grant - in honor of National Children's Book Week - to support the ongoing efforts of the Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL). As a part of the grant presentation festivities, Michael Chamberlin hosted a "Believe in Magic" show attended by approximately 80 school-aged children. The Friends of Pohick Regional Library sponsored the magic show. The New Century Library Fund was established by the FCPL as a community-wide effort of individuals, businesses, foundations and associations established to enhance the services and resources of the Fairfax County Public Library in the 21st century. "The generous grant from AT&T will allow the Fairfax County Public Library to continue to expand the services it offers to the residents of Fairfax County and Fairfax City," said Library Director Edwin S. Clay III. "The New Century Library Fund provides supplemental support, allowing the Fairfax County Public Library to offer books, equipment, software and community programs that meet the growing needs of Fairfax County's diverse population." Fairfax County Public Library Foundation, Inc. is a private, nonprofit corporation committed to providing supplementary support to the Fairfax County Public Library. The Foundation, while reinforcing the need for continued and increased public support for the Library, serves as a catalyst for attracting private funding from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations to enhance library services for our community. |
