October is Library Foundation Month
Fairfax, VA – At their October 15th meeting the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors declared October as Library Foundation Month in Fairfax County. To celebrate Library Foundation Month, library staff and volunteers wear buttons while brochures, posters and a large banner are displayed at every branch. The Fairfax County Public Library, Inc., now doing business as the Fairfax Library Foundation also unveiled a new logo!
“While we have a new logo, a redesigned Web site, and a revised name, we continue to provide the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those who live, work and study in our community by enhancing your library, ” says Joan Kane, Chair of the foundation’s Board of Directors.
Through the support of individuals, businesses and organizations, the Foundation cosponsors All Fairfax Reads; the Perspectives Series author programs; special book collections and materials; the “BookCast” podcast author interviews; the Summer Reading Program; online Homework Help; academic and continuing educational support through the Friends Scholarship Fund for future librarians, volunteers and staff; and much more to assure that the library maintains an edge of excellence well into the future.
Fairfax Library Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation committed to providing supplementary support to the Fairfax County Public Library. The Foundation, while reinforcing the need for continued and increased public support for the Library, serves as a catalyst for attracting private funding from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations to enhance library services for our community.
