The Mathy House.Fairfax, VA – The Fairfax Library Foundation proudly hosts A Platinum Jubilee! Celebrating 70 years of Fairfax County Library service (1939-2009).  All proceeds from this unique celebration, chaired by Sally Merten and Sushma Shenoy, will support valuable library programs & services. A Platinum Jubilee! will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Mathy House, home of George Mason University President Alan & Sally Merten.

Library lovers are invited to don party attire for a jubilant reception featuring the lively George Mason University Jazz Ensemble led by Jim Carroll plus a full assortment of refreshments and delectable hors d’oeuvres. Bidders will vie for the opportunity to golf at Hidden Creek Country Club, watch the Redskins from Club Seats, enjoy an authentic Indian dinner, experience a Tuscan themed dinner party, relax on a spa vacation getaway, and much more in silent & live auctions by Quinn’s Auction Galleries!

A Platinum Jubilee! will not only be an enjoyable evening for attendees,” says the foundation’s executive director, Bobbi Longworth, “but it will also make a positive difference because 100% of proceeds will support summer reading, literacy outreach, tutoring, job search assistance and many other library services that are increasingly demanded by individuals who live, work or study in Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax.
