Library Board to Honor Volunteers April 7
Fairfax, VA – The Fairfax County Public Library Board of Trustees will honor 23 volunteers and two community partners at a special awards ceremony at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 at the George Mason Regional Library, located at 7001 Little River Turnpike in Annandale. The ceremony is in honor of National Volunteer Week April 19-25.
Others to be honored include volunteers who
have reached service milestones. This year’s two community service
partners include Southland Concrete and Interstate Worldwide Relocation
who played pivotal roles in the Fairfax County Public Library and Fairfax
Library Foundation’s Art in the Pages project.
Southland Concrete provided concrete to stabilize the statues, and Interstate
Worldwide Relocation transported the statues from artist’s studios to their
final destinations. Also providing exceptional service to the Art in the
Pages project was 2008 Foundation Chair Joan Kane.
Additional honorees include four volunteers who are receiving exceptional service awards for providing ongoing technology and computer supporter to library customers needing general access to the Internet and library databases, as well as teaching classes in a variety of software. The four volunteers include husband/wife team Priya and Robert D’Souza (City of Fairfax Regional Library), Haley Lawrence (Woodrow Wilson Library) and Lupita Parra (Woodrow Wilson Library). Another volunteer, David Hegeler, will be honored for playing a critical role in active gaming programs at Patrick Henry Library for more than two years.
