Fairfax Library Foundation to Select Community Summer Jobs Program Intern
Fairfax, VA – The Fairfax Library Foundation has been selected by Volunteer Fairfax to participate in the Community Summer Jobs Program, sponsored by ExxonMobil. The Fairfax Library Foundation will hire one intern to participate in the program who will conduct field research on the Library’s educational programs funded by the Foundation. The purpose of the Intern’s research is to evaluate the return on investment of the Fairfax Library Foundation’s funding and to offer recommendations to the Foundation Board on its future fundraising efforts. The intern will also examine the current economic climate and research its effects on the Fairfax Library Foundation so that the Foundation can best anticipate future economic downturns.
Each summer the ExxonMobil Foundation provides grants to a select group of local non-profit organizations so that they may hire one college student to participate in an internship of the organization’s choice. “The Foundation’s Finance Committee is excited to establish a rate of return on investment to be used in evaluating the effectiveness of the programs and to show potential donors and sponsors the outcome of their gifts. The ExxonMobil Summer Job Program Intern will help the Foundation become even more responsive to its donors.” said Martina Murphy, the Foundation’s Finance & Resource Manager.
This marks the second consecutive and the eighth year overall that the Foundation has been selected to participate in the CSJP Volunteer Fairfax program.
It takes the collective contributions of individuals, businesses, and organizations, to support the Foundation’s sponsorship of multiple Fairfax County Public Library programs and services including the All Fairfax Reads, Changing Lives through Literature, Fall for the Book, Friends Scholarship Fund, the Summer Reading Program, and Ready to Read early literacy outreach.
Fairfax County Public Library Foundation, Inc., doing business as Fairfax Library Foundation, is a private, nonprofit corporation committed to providing supplementary support to the Fairfax County Public Library. The Foundation, while reinforcing the need for continued and increased public support for the library, serves as a catalyst for attracting private funding from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations to enhance library services for our community.
