Peggy Blanchet
Peggy Blanchet is the Finance Assistant for the Fairfax Library Foundation. She has been with the Foundation since December, 2007 as a part-time contract worker. Peggy assists with data entry into both the Accounting and Fund Raising databases; preparations for the annual audit and meetings and office duties such as answering the telephone, photocopying.
Peggy worked for United Airlines for over twenty years and retired in October 2006. She started as a reservations sales agent in Mclean for the first ten years and then she moved up to Workload Coordinator in the “tower” on the midnight shift. She loved this job as it involved much responsibility and many challenges in keeping a smooth running operation by working closely with headquarters and other offices across the airline system. Peggy worked until United Airlines closed its Washington Metro office.
Peggy said the best part of her career with United was working in customer service because she enjoyed assisting her customers in resolving issues ranging from the changing of a ticket to finding lost luggage and anything else that came up.
Peggy now enjoys her work at the Foundation. She enjoys being very busy and takes pride in her great work ethic and diligence to detail.
At home, Peggy enjoys books, especially mysteries and non-fiction books. She has many hobbies such as collecting thimbles and houseplants. Peggy lives in Woodbridge with her husband and son. Her grown daughter lives in Tampa, Florida. There are also three dogs living in the home: two are Lhasa Apsos and the third is a mixed-breed Golden Retriever that the family adopted from a shelter.
