John T. "Til" and Anne Hazel
John T. "Til" Hazel, Jr. is an attorney and real-estate developer in Northern Virginia who is credited with developing several portions of Fairfax County into major commercial areas from the 1960s through the present. His boldness and forceful lobbying carried him beyond suburban development to the creation of Tysons Corner, Virginia, one of the country's first "edge cities."
In addition to his commercial endeavors, Til is also a founder of the Virginia Business-Higher Education Council, an organization promoting cooperation between industry and universities in Virginia. Til served as a senior partner in the law firm of Reed Smith Hazel and Thomas. Reed Smith, an international firm, merged with Northern Virginia-based Hazel and Thomas in 1999.
Til and his wife Anne reside in Northern Virginia and are both actively involved in supporting their community through leadership roles in the Arts Council of Fairfax County, George Mason University, the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC and much more.
